Abstract:
The catalytic activity of Mn/γ-Al2O3 and pure γ-Al2O3 (both in nano structure forms) as oxidation catalysts for complete oxidation of isopropanol as a model volatile organic compound (VOC) was studied. The catalyst activity was measured in a packed bed reactor and reaction temperature was between 150 and 500°C. Both catalysts exhibited suitable activity in oxidation of isopropanol but the activity of Mn loaded γ- Al2O3 was higher and oxidation was completed in lower temperatures in comparison with pure γ-Al2O3.This study confirm that nano structure γ-Al2O3 catalysts can be suitable for oxidation of iso propanol. This study, hopefully, holds the promise for the eliminating of isopropanol contained hazardous materials in industrial application.
