Abstract:
In this study, the mechanical structure of two metal basedcomposites which were formed by Ytterbium fiber laser areevaluated after the tensile test; two-layered stainless-steelSUS304L/Copper C11000 composite and three layeredstainless-steel SUS430/copper C11000/stainless-steelcomposite. Laser beam irradiation causes a different crosssectionalreduction in both composites in the heat affectedzone (HAZ) compared to other areas of tensile testspecimens. In fact, the reduction of area in the HAZ is muchless than other areas. The main reasons for this are theincrease in thickness and compressive residual strain in thisarea. The laser beam irradiation is greatly reduced the cracksgenerated in the copper layer of two layered composite inthe HAZ.
