Abstract:
Background: Exposure to electromagnetic wave is recognized as a potential hazardous factor for biological sys-There are different opinions about the effects of electromagnetic waves on human health. The epide .tems miological and experimental studies indicated the harmful effects of the electromagnetic waves on biological systems such as central nervous system. So, in this research the effects of the electromagnetic waves of the Wi-Fi Modem device on girl students’ short-term memory and concentration level in Estahban are investigated. Materials and Methods: In this research, 203 girls aged 14-17 years were selected using random and clustering procedures in Estahban high schools. At first, the students were divided into 2 groups of control group (n=69) and experiment group (n=87) by responding to the questionnaire related to measuring the anxiety and then the questionnaire related to making use of the mobile phone internet, presence or absence of the Wi-Fi Modem at homes, the time period used and how to use the modem was responded. Results: There is no significant rela-tionship between using the Wi-Fi modem and the level of the concentrated attention level based on the t-test but, there was a significant relationship between use of the Wi-Fi modem and level of distracted attention. It means that the girls didn’t use the Wi-Fi modem have more concentrated attention level (sig<0.05). Also the results of the research indicated that the variable SAR in head affects significantly on the short-term memory and doesn’t affect significantly the distracted and concentrated attention
