Abstract:
The present study aimed at investigating the effects of comprehension and structured-based production tasks on learners’ grammar acquisition. Since the main purpose of tasks is focused on meaning, the researchers wanted to know that whether tasks have the same effects on grammar acquisition or not. To this purpose, three intact groups (number of each =17) were chosen as the experimental groups and the control group of the study. The experimental groups were taught targeted structures through input enrichment approach and task utility approach, while the control group was taught via unfocused task-based instruction. The findings support the arguments regarding the importance of focused task-based instruction (comprehension and structured-based production) in grammar acquisition. The researchers suggested other researchers applying these approaches to promote learners’ grammar
