Abstract:

The present study aimed at identifying the hidden curriculum in the new educational system as perceived by EFLteachers in English language Education classes in junior high schools of Kalaleh, a northern city in Golestan Province.Embedded in a case study design, the gathered data through interviews with the teachers were analyzed. Excerpts fromteachers responses showed that overcrowded classes, infrastructure issues, parental rapports and teachers financialrestrictions can be the mostly common hidden curriculum in the setting and similar ones. Indeed, the hidden curriculumrepresented the act of interfering with or slowing the progress of national curriculum agenda followed by fundamentalevolution in Iranian educational system to meet its evolutionary missions at least in such settings. Findings of the studyhave some ramifications for English language policy makers, administrators, teachers, to name few.
