Abstract:
The formation of gas hydrates during hydrocarbon production and transportation is a serious problem in the oil and gas industry. Using hydrate inhibitors due to their thermodynamic or kinetic effects, delay the process of hydrate formation. In this paper effect of various thermodynamic inhibitors such as Methanol, Tri-Ethylene-Glycol (TEG) and CaCl2 and Poly [vinylpryrrolidone] (PVP) as kinetic inhibitor on time of methane gas hydrate formation and inhibition of different inhibitor dosage have been studied. Experimental results show kinetic inhibitors have better performance on methane hydrate inhibition and increasing nucleation time.
