Abstract:
In order to obtain the optimum operating conditions for dehydrogenation of propane on DP-803 catalyst which is used seasonal in the MTBE unit of Kimia Petrochemical Company situated in the south of Iran, a pilot scaled reactor was used for experimentation. In this reactor the effects of different operating parameters, such as temperature (T), H2/propane ratio and feed flow rate (WHSV) were studied on the efficiency of this catalyst for dehydrogenation of propane. Twenty seven different runs were conducted and the most efficient conditions for this case were found to be T = 630oC, H2/propane = 0.6 and WHSV = 3 hr-1. Under these operating conditions, the highest rate of propane conversion was 64.5% and the highest selectivity relative to propylene was found to be 52.66%
