Abstract:

Readability of texts requires plenty of attention; because it determines how easily the text can be read and understood. It is concerned with the problem of matching between a reader and a text. The readable exts can transmit information from the author or translator to the reader. The author’s success can depend on the readability of the text. Different formulae employed vocabulary difficulty and sentence length to predict readability. Several studies were dominantly centered on the readability of various texts. Some of them used different formula to examine the readability of the educational and scientific texts or the translations. This study aimed at providing comprehensive, detailed review of several research studies from 2002 to 2017 on the readability of texts in order to inform the factors which cause a text to be morereadable.
