Abstract:

The purpose of the present research is to investigate the relationship between dimensions of love, self-actualization and the attitude toward extramarital affairs and the explanation of the contribution of dimensions of love and self-actualization in the attitude toward extramarital affairs.For this purpose, sample of 180 people among Maskan Bank Information Technology staff who were working during 2016-2017, was selected by the convenience sampling method; and they were tested by the questionnaires of Sternberg’s triangular love, Maslow’s self-actualization and Watley’s marital infidelity Using correlation and regression analysis, the results of the research showed that there is significant relationship between attitude toward extramarital affairs and the variable of decision and commitment; the correlation between these two variables is negative. This means that the attitude toward extramarital affairs is inversely related to decision and commitment, and the correlation between attitude toward extramarital affairs and other two variables, namely intimacy and passion, is not significant. Also, the correlation between attitude toward extramarital affairs and the variable of self-actualization was significant and this means that attitudes toward extramarital affairs is inversely related to self-actualization. The results of multivariate regression analysis showed that the variables of passion, decision and commitment, and self-actualization can predict the attitude toward extramarital affairs
