Abstract:

Ameliorating the performance of solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) is one of the challenges in this field. The goal of this study was to coat AISI 430 ferritic stainless steel which uses as interconnect in a manganese-base pack mixture by pack cementation method. During oxidation tests the coating layer converted to the Mn3O4 spinel and MnFe2O4 nano spinel. Isothermal oxidation, cyclic oxidation and oxidation at different temperatures (400-900 ºC) were applied to evaluate the oxide layer thickness which was created during these tests. Results showed that in eachtest, the formed spinels reduced the chromia growth compared with uncoated ones
