Abstract:

Some novel Schiff base ligands of type H2L was prepared by the condensation of methyl-2-(1-methyl-2 -aminoethane)amino-1-cyclopentenedithiocarboxylate (HcdMeen) [1,2] and 2-hydroxyacetophenon and their derivatives. The metal (II) complexes of Ni2+ and Cu2+ synthesized and characterized on the basis of physicochemical techniques, namely, elemental analysis, melting point, magnetic moment, molar conductance and spectroscopic (UV-Vis, IR, 1H, 13C NMR) data. The spectroscopic studies suggested thedistorted square planar structures for complexes. To investigate the applications of synthesized compounds, in the next step the compounds were tested for in vitro antibacterial activity against clinically important bacteria.
