Abstract:
The use of various materials in the construction of aquatic structures has long been prevalent, but the newest materials used in the construction of these structures are the synthetic rubber material that has been introduced in most countries worldwide in recent years. Heavy marine structures are being used as a new technology to trap current water on land. These dams were designed to compensate for defects in man-made steel and wooden valves. Temporary storage of river water base discharge and reduction of pumping costs to agricultural lands, separation of contaminated or saline water from fresh water, use of rubber dams to increase the height of existing concrete dams to increase water storage capacity, use of rubber tube instead of steel valves. Reducing erosion in the steep river and generating electricity by small hydroelectric plants are among the most important goals of rubber dams. In this article, after familiarizing with the types of dams, the disadvantages and advantages and characteristics of rubber dams are discussed.
