Abstract:

Abstract—Todays, it is well known that using a supplementarycontroller in FACTS devices can be affective for dampingoscillations of electromechanical (EM) mode. In the meantime, appropriate coupling of inputs-outputs signals in themultivariable power system equipped by FACTS can improveperformance of designed supplementary controller. In this paperusing of a supplementary controller of interline power flowcontroller (IPFC) based on input-output signal selection issurveyed to improve power system stability. The proposedcontroller is added as a supplementary loop to the convertercontrol loops in IPFC and will enhance the damping torque in thepower plant by increasing the damping coefficients of the systemoscillation modes. Moreover, a solution is provided to use theproposed damping controller in the most optimal path betweeninput-output signals of the system, so that the most controllabilityon the oscillation modes and the least interference with otherchannels between the input-output signals are obtained. Toincrease stability, further Lead-Lag controllers, a novel on-lineadaptive controller has been used analytically to identify powersystem parameters and damp electromechanical oscillations. Thesimulation results show that the method proposed in this papernot only improves the dynamic stability of the power system butalso strengthens the voltage profile.
