First Filling of a Dam Reservoir: Case of Beris Dam Malaysia

The first filling of Beris dam reservoir was done in a systematic manner. A procedure manual was prepared for the purpose which covered plans for water control, prefillinginspections, project surveillance, contingency and safety, and issues of public affairs, transportation and communications. It took 10 months to fill reservoir to itsnormal pool level. During that time the dam and appurtenant structures were regular ly inspected and all instrument readings were monitored. At the end of filling ateam of experts inspected the project works and interpreted all instrument records to assess safe and satisfactory performance of the project works
