Developing Green tax Policy Enhancing Energy Security and Addressing Environmental Problems

Environmental and the necessity of enhancing energy security by diversifying supply are two main problems that need to be addressed. As a result of these problems and other various crises facing the world, the concept of a green economy has developed significantly. UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD) that is held in June 2012 in Rio de Janeiro has chosen a green economy in the context of sustainable development and poverty eradication as one o its major themes. Within the framework of green economy, this paper aim to introduce and explain the benefits of Green Tax policy as powerful tools for tackling environmental problems and meeting the need of energy security. For doing so, this article attempt to give details about the objective of Green tax policy, Major components of Green tax policy, and benefit of applying it. This paper indicates that Green tax policy can be effectively imposed in energy sector. It is also states that Green Tax is a useful tool for avoiding environment degradation environment.
