PROGRAMS FOR NETWORK SYSTEM PLANNING AND DISTURBANCE ANALYSIS abstract
Program systems are nowadays indispensibie for the engineer in planning and disturbance analysis of transmission and distribution networks. For short- and long-term planning horizon many restrictions and recommendations have to be taken into account. Technical restrictions are layed down in national and international regulations for network extension and operation. Additional economic restrictions as costs for generation,
distribution losses and investment have to be considered. Because of the numerous restrictions a global optimum cannot be found exclusively on the basis of pure mathematical optimization methods. It is necessary, that the network planning engineer can use a dialog oriented program
system, which is easy to handle. In this s,'stom all relevant planning methods should be included. The system should relieve the engineer as far as possible of routine work to form variants and interpret results but give him time to concentrate on the creative part of planning. This has led to development of a program system for network planning purposes PAN (PAN stands for: Programmsystem for Analysis of Networks). This system can be implemented on mainframe computers as well as on minicomputers.
