MODERN TRENDS IN POWER SYSTEMS PLANNING abstract
This paper investigates the new trends in power systems planning. These trends manifest the following characteristics : 1- New methods of per-planning studies within the context of the overall energy system, including other major energy producing and energy consuming sectors of the country. 2- Grouping and intergration of the conventional power system planning functions around common data bases. 3- Coordinated decentralization of planning functions and associated use of micro-computers. The relationship between the overall energy system approach and classical power system planning methods is discussed.
