INCREASE OF GENERATION CAPACITY OF NATIONAL GRID BY ALTERATION OF SUGAR REFINERIES STEAM UNITS

There is no doubt that, one of the basic ways of reduction of power cut would be the increament of generation capacity of the national grid by adding new power plants, but it is also common acceptance that this approach cannot be a short term solution of the problem. Therefore, to overcome the current situation in power system of Iran, one has no other alternative but to think about the existing possibilities. One of the most efficient tools for peak-shaving would be utilization of power generation capacities of various industries, particulary those which are energy intensive and have the possibility for contribution, to a fairly considerable extent, to the power needs of the national grid. In this paper sugar refineries of Iran as a potantial candidate for this purpose have been Fully investigated and results are reported.
