COORDINATED STABILISATION OF POWER SYSTEMS USING EIGENSENSITIVITY ANALYSIS abstract
This paper presents a combined procedure for coordinated application of power system stabilisers (PSS) and tuning of Automatic Voltage Regulators (AVR) and PSS parameters, in order to improve the overall dynamic stability of power systems, using eigenvalue sensitivity analysis and a gradient search method.
The selection of the best location for stabilisers is performed by a cyclic permutation and combination method. The coordination of AVR and PSS gain settings is carried out by a reduced gradient method based on the sensitivities of boundary eigenvalues. The method is illustrated with a sample system, that of a five machinee model.
