In order to provide the continuous supply of power, which is essential to the normal activities of modern society, peak power generation is necessarv Based on the technical and economical evaluation of peak energy supply possibilities, from the point of view of energy policy development of-energy system in the adverse direction possible :
- To increase of hydrocarbon consumpLion by constructing new gas turbines
- To equalize the load of energy system and reduce of hydrocarbon consumption by constriction of a pumped storage scheme or standardized hydel The paper recalls the main aspects of the methodology of selection, based on hourly chronclogical simulaiton of 20 years priod of system behaviour with operation policies near to real ones in application example on the base analyzed hungarian energy system – is presented the complex interrelationships amongst various duties The first phase of the paper examines the fuel balance , fuel cost system, specific fuel cost and the changes in hydrocarbon consumption of energy system belonging to various developments In the second 0hose of the paper the investment costs of gas turbine development hydel and pumpod storage , is,examined The result of this study indicated that the use of hydel or pumped storage for the development of energy system significantly equalized the load rationalized the utilized energy resources. Dynamic benefits of hydel pumped storage include load follow- voltage regulation , provision for emergency power and spinning reserve
