REQUIREMENTS OF FUTURE OPERATION ORIENTED ENERGY MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS abstract
Energy Management Systems (EMS) are expected to benefit from the technological improvements in computer hardware and data communication. This is the starting point for a through analysis of the present state of EMS, the behaviour of the power system and the capabilities of the operator. 'This leads to the requirements of future, operation oriented EMS functionality A result is that the present day EMS are mainly oriented towards operation in the normal and the vulnerable state of the power system The functionality is extrapolaed for emergency and network resrather than considering the different operational tasks in these situations Future EMS, which are essentially free from most of today's technological constraints, should be defined in such a way that the operator receives the most support for his tasks, not only in the
normal and vulnerable operating state, but also during network emergencies and restoration Recommended concepts and functionality are provided.
