Passive optical systems including several sensors : current metering, current relaying, voltage measurement, for WHV electrical networks show a number of advantages over conventionnal transformers : easier insulation, higher bandwidth, (for both high and low frequencies remote electronics 5s, high accuracy and dynamic range. Since 1972, we started investigating this very promising technique, and constructed an inclustrial instrument which was quaIifed in the Renardieres site of Electricite de France. We are now defining the interfaces for general use of these instruments in the future VHVsubstation
