Investigation of synchronizing accidents in thermal and gas turbine power plants in iran

This paper briefly outlines the common synchronizing problem experienced by TAVANIR IN Iran in their thermal and gas turbine generating plants. Synchronizing failure had caused extensive damages to expensive power equipments like power transformers H.V. winding, generator and winding, rotor winding and circuit breaker main contact ruptures etc. one of the reason for this causes are attributed to the tough attitude of turnkey contractor, consultants and client in their initial design approval of the synchronizing schemes like refusal of overhead lubricating oil system of turbine generator in addition to emergency oil pumps.
