GRID CONTROL BY INTEGRATED PROTECTION AND CONTROL SYSTEM FOR SUBSTATIONS abstract
For several decades, grid management has been using conventional monitoring, control and protection equipment for operations and process control. The introduction of modern control systems yields improved capabilities and new aspects for grid management.
A new generation of secondary equipment in substations is introduced with its basic features. The integrated protection and control system for substations (ILS) not only incorporates all positive features of the previously installed secondary equipment but also contains considerable improvements. Using a microprocessor-based two level structure and modern fibre optic, data transmission, reliability and availability can be considerable improved which leads to an increased profitability in grid management.
