The bigest power plant in Iran is located in NEKA the north part of Iran, which produces 2000 MW. This power transmitted by three 400 kv transmission lines to Tehran. These lines mostly crossed the highest mountaine," ALBORZ ", in winter time the tension insulator assemblys are covered with snow and arise fault and problem for Iranian network due to this reason we should be more careful for design of such assembly. in this paper there are some methods for design and tests of tension insulators to show its performance in heavy snow area. The form of insulators and arrangement of assembly is more important and shoul d be considered.
