Effect of Magnetic Fields: Some Biochemical Parameters of Iranian Workers abstract
In recent years, magnetic fields in health related problems have been shown to play an important role. Protein syntliesis,Tnetic process, cell membrane, and cell proliferation and differentiationcan all be affected by magnetic fields. This study shows that in longterm exposure to magnetic fields in the work place the inactive form of xanthine oxidase increased ( compared to the active form) and the optimum PH for oxidation process was acidic With incubation, the releasing time for iron from ferritin also decreased, zinc absorption food and excretion of lead decreased in the worker. Serum copper levels increased. Serum metalothion ( an oligopeptide) showed 30,'0' decrease. There was no significant change in total protein and albumin. HbAIC as an indicator of stress in the workers showed a relatively significant increase. Vitamin C levels were low, but cholesterol levels high, It is hoped that this finding and future clinical investigation will help enlighten the knowledge of workers exposed to
magnetic fields.
