DIAGNOSTIC TECHNIQUES OF FATIGUE DAMAGES OF HIGH TENSION CONDUCTORS abstract

The results are given of the dinamic behaviour of a single conductor, used as a ground wire on a conventional 500 kV overhead line. In order to study and analyse the conditions of appearance and development of fatigue damages, conductor tension varied in a wide range from 20% to 50% UTS both for field and laboratory studies. For bundle conductors diagnostic studies were carried out on a 330 kV compact line with non-conventional geometry of the bundle'phase. Basing on the results of the experiments the conclusions were made about the possibility and limits of practical application of high tension overhead conductors.
