IMPROVED ALGORITHM FOR CONTINGENCY ANALYSIS BY THE ADJOINT NETWORK METHOD abstract
In spite of its low time requirements, the adjoint network method has not gained a wider acceptance as a tool for contingency analysis. One of the reasons was relatively inaccurate calculation of the network node voltages following a disturbance. The algorithms bridging this problem were developed and reported as time consuming. The paper ofiers an improved algorithm for node voltage determination based on the original adjoint network relations. For its testing, the standard and other test systems were selected for various loading conditions. Considerably improved accuracy in node voltages calculation is demonstrated for the selected systems. The results can be compared to the fast decoupled power flow results and are in some cases even better than those of IPIQ method. Moreover, the time requirements for large scale systems are kept within the same order of magnitude of the original algorithm, that is considerably lower than for 1P1Q method.
