INVESTIGATION OF CAUSES DAMAGING FIAT GENERATOR

Amongst forty Generators from six different manufacturers installed at rey power s~tation ; three 32MW -Fiat generators made by Ansaldo , in comparison with other 37 generator have a very weaker stator winding insulation . This weakness conjoin.in.g with other problems in the entioned units has been the cause of the three Ansaldo Generators to fail during operation , leading to massive Disasters from the ecOnomicE!l point of view,for instance extra rial and foreign exd~ expendi tuire for repaajring,loss of production during .the repair. work and so the present paper tries,to investigate the cause of the last Ansaldo generator failure at rey power station which after a long time stoppage was put back into service in june 1995.
