FLOW MODEL TEST OF JETS IN SPRAY NOZZLE USED IN JET CONDENSERS OF POWER PLANT abstract

A one dimensional steady two-phase separated flow model in conjunction with the Energy momentum equations and associated heat transfer coefficient model is Utilized to represent a numerical model. The heat transfer relation along the water spray in condenser is presented through thermal effectiveness or dimensionless temperature difference( ϕ) relation available for Jet condenser. The sets of mathematical relations are then integrated numerically in conjunction with the boundary condition for different numerical test condition. The numerical predictions are first compared with the available experimental data without heat addition, Then for actual Jet condenser design data, the effect of a number of variables on thermal effectiveness and heat transfer rate including variation of temperature, nozzle diameter and length, pressure and mass flow rate of coolant, Concentration of noncondensibles, droplet size, spray pressure, condenser pressure, turbulence, ambient temperature, direction of spraying and size of condenser are evaluated. Also the advantage of using this system in powerplants is reviewed. From the analysis, it was found that while some of the above items increase or others decrease, the heat transfer rate, thermal effectiveness and condenser efficiency moderately increase. The effect of optimization of above items, on performance of condenser, In addition, on the PowerPlant performance and efficiency is more significant.
