ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT IN STEAM POWER PLANT OPERATION (EXPERIENCES IN INDONESIA) abstract
In response to the rapid increase of the electricity demand in Indonesia, PLN as the State lectricity company have developed several types of large scale power plants. In case of steam power lants, it have been developed since 1961, when construction of the first 25 MW oilfired steam power plant in Tanjung Priok was implemented. The possible environmental impact due to the steam power plant operations are the air pollution, thermal water waste and fly ash in case of coal fired power plants. This paper describes the PLN experiences in environmental mitigation and
meassures in connection with steam power plant operations.
