CORROSION AND SCALE CONTROL IN POWER PLANTS RECIRCULATLYG COOLING WATER SYSTEM abstract
Corrosion In electric utility Is expensive. it can cause losses In availability , unplanned outages, Increase maintenance costs, and shorter lifetime& for equipment . Inhibitors use Is a well - established procedure to control metallic corrosion In cooling water systems In power plant .
In this paper, The effect of different chemical Inhibitors such as molybdates. polyphosphate, zinc, Phosphonate have been Investigated In different power plant's cooling waters .
The conclusion to be drawn from the present work may be summarized as follows. * For a good protection of mild steel and copper alloy, a mixtrue of corrosion Inhibitors such as molybdate, Zinc and phosphonate should be used Insteed of polyphosphate alone . c Microbiological control should be maintained so as to avoid fouling by slimes and other organisms which could contribute to under deposits corrosion. Good chlorination Is essential . PH must be tightly controlled to keep It sufficiently low to avoid depostion of the various Inorganic scales of concern In the system .
