Finite Element Analysis of a Bent Rotor With Mass Unbalances for Machinery Diagnosis abstract

Dynamic behavior of a bent rotor with mass imbalances has been studied in this paper. The finite element method is used to calculate the bent rotor response to different imbalance magnitude, phase and location. The results show that the response of a bent shaft with imbalance is different from a straight unbalanced rotor. The difference depends on several parameters such as the angle between the initial bow and unbalance vector , support types and location, number of disks and their positions,and shaft diameter. The results are presented in different graphs and can significantly assist in rotor unbalance determination.
