Abstract:
Given the important role of ESP and the significance of textbooks as valuable guidelinesfor different areas of specialization, this study aimed at evaluating Accounting ESP textbook inorder to explore its strengths and weaknesses. To this end, two questionnaires were applied toexamine whether the ESP accounting textbook conforms to the students′ needs. One hundred andtwenty students who were taking ESP accounting course at Islamic Azad University at the timeof the study Behshahr Branch participated in the study. In order to collect the required data, Al-Yousef (2007) questionnaires, which were originally developed based on Cuningsworths’ (1995)textbook evaluation checklist, were tailored for the current study by the researcher. The collecteddata were analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively. The findings revealed that ESP accountingtextbook does not conform to students' needs.
