Abstract:
Dispersive solid phase nanoextraction is presented as an alternative technique for extraction and preconcentration of two benzodiazepine drugs including diazepam (Dz) and lorazepam (Lz) from serum samples. This novel approach –that we have named dispersive solid phase nanoextraction (DSPNE)– is based on strong affinity between selected drugs and carboxylated–carbon nanotubes (CCNT). Finalanalysis of selected drugs performed by using gas chromatography–mass spectrometric (GC/MS) detection. Firstly, extraction parameters were optimized for drugs from water samples, then optimized conditions were used for extraction of drugs from biological (serum) samples.The most striking feature correlates to the small volume of water sample (500 μL) for complete analyses. The limits of detection ranged from 20 (Dz) to 100 ng·L- 1 (Lz). The relative standard deviations at medium calibration concentrations vary from 5 (Dz) to 12.3% (Lz). The analytical recoveries from serum samples of the drugs varied from 75.8 (Dz) to 85.7 (Lz). The entire extraction procedure consumes lessthan 50 μL of organic solvents per sample, which makes it environmentally friendly. The small volume of extracting solution makes DSPNE a relatively inexpensive extraction approach
