Abstract:
Biodiesel is considered as a renewable, sustainable andenvironmental friendly fuel that is mainly produced bytransesterification reaction between vegetable oil andmethanol. The study was carried out to produce biodieselfrom waste/recycled olive oil to reduce the cost ofbiodiesel, waste and pollution. Some important variablessuch as volumetric ratio, types of reactants and catalyticactivities were selected to obtain a high quality biodieselfuel within the specifications of the American Standardfor Biodiesel Testing Method (ASTM D ٦٧٥١) andEuropean Norm (EN ١٤٢١٤). The highest biodieselyield was obtained (٧٦.٤%) under the conditions of ٢:١volumetric oil-to-methanol weight ratio, ٢٥% NaOHcatalyst at ٥٠-٥٥ °C reaction temperature and ٤٢٠ rpmstirring speed.
