Abstract:
High energy cost is the main driving force of currently increasing interest in the Fischer-Tropsch synthesis (FTS) for the conversion of natural gas to liquids (GTL). Among the catalysts for this process, Cobalt is the best candidates and its stability is an important performance variable. In the present study, the lifetime of the Co/CNT catalyst and the portion of the different deactivating elements are considered. A power law extension is suggested for the relation of catalyst lifetime to time. As the result, due to the high partial pressure of water and the little effect of the catalyst poisoning and sintering on the deactivation, water is considered the main factor of the loss in catalyst activity.
