Abstract:
In this paper nanostructured magnesium oxide was prepared by a new wet chemical method using polyvinyl alcohol and sucrose as surfactant and chelating agent. The synthesized powders were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR), Thermal gravimetry (TG), Differential thermal gravimetry (DTG) and Derivative differential thermal (DDTA) analyses. The obtained results showed that the increasing in sucrose/MgO molar ratio decreased the crystallite size. Increasing in calcination temperature also increased the crystallite size due to sintering of MgO crystals.
