Wagon wheel derailment in curve due to wear abstract
Derailment analyzes of new and worn S1002 wheel profiles is carried out, and as a result, wagon s derailment factor along curved track is determined. Analytic solution is achieved by using Hertz contact theory and Kalker linear theory. In addition, simulation and analysis are carried out using ADAMS/Rail software for different wheel profile and derailment factor is determined using derailment criteria. It reveals that derailment factor increase along wagon entering curved track. The Worn profiles have more tendencies exposed to derailment in more cases. However, permitted wear limit must be defined.
