Abstract:

The feeling of fear in pregnant mothers is a completely normal problem that almost ۹۰% of mothersexperience. But when this fear becomes overwhelming and the mother's thoughts are only devoted tothe pain and terror of childbirth, she should think about treatment and solving the problem. Thisexcessive fear makes mothers think of anything to avoid the pain of childbirth. For example, theincrease in the number of elective cesarean sections is one of the consequences of the fear ofchildbirth. If you talk to women who have experienced childbirth and ask them what were theirthoughts during childbirth, you will encounter almost the same answers. You understand that fear is anatural feeling. But there are many things that can be done to eliminate this fear and keep the mother'semotions in balance. The feeling of fear in women mostly happens to mothers who are going toexperience childbirth for the first time. Of course, this is not the reason that he definitely said that youwill not experience fear for the second children and... But things like bad memories of childbirth, longchildbirth, abortion, etc. can also cause a sense of fear. If there are events in the person's past, such asrape, the possibility of fear of childbirth and pregnancy increases. Some of the reasons for fear ofchildbirth are as follows: Hormonal changes can lead to feelings of anxiety and fear. Also, thesechanges make it very difficult for mothers to control anxiety. ۱. Hearing the difficult experiences ofthose around you who had difficult and painful childbirth. ۲. Hearing the unexpected experiences ofothers, such as anesthetics not working, mothers dying during childbirth, ۳. The absence of thosearound the mother to support her emotionally. ۴. Social reasons such as the young age of the pregnantmother or the exclusion of the mother from the society. Psychological reasons such as lack of selfconfidence, remembering bad childhood memories, depression and anxiety of the mother. This studyaims to test the efficacy of a brief, midwife-led psycho-education counselling (known as BELIEF: BirthEmotions - Looking to Improve Expectant Fear) to reduce women’s childbirth fear.
