Application of Expert Systems to Co-ordination of Overcurrent (0/C) Protection abstract
Co-ordination and regulation of the proctection equipment in distribution network is the most difficult and time-consuming problems for distribution engineers because of the variety and diversity of the equipment, non-linearness of specifications and lack of certain algorims(1&2). The experience and knowledge of distribution engineer is the best way to confront these problems. Because of the manpower shortage, the distribution engineer is not able to carry out huge projects in a short period, as a consequence digital computers with high capacity of
calculation and Huristic methods together must be applied. In this paper an expert system called "EXOCC" is introduced to coordinate the O/C protection equipments. Its duty is to select, set and co-ordinate the protection equipement. It has graphic ability in displaying the certain network and also to display the curve of the protection equipment specification which is in the logarithm screen. To run this system an expert system shell called XIPLUS is used.
