Abstract:

The present work studies the kinetic of tetracycline adsorption onto a synthesized mesoporous activated carbon. In this regard, the effect of initial concentration, 100-175ppm temperature298-328k and pH2.5-8.5 was scrutinized in 11 kinetic experiments. Higher concentration and temperature in a neutral solution favored the adsorption capacity. In order to investigate the dynamic of this process, two popular models were applied and pseudo-second order demonstrated a better fitting in all operational conditions. But only stating this fact that the adsorption rate is proportional to the second order of available active sites is not convincible. In fact, a detailed calculation of rate constant value is required to generate a formula for kinetic which could estimate the adsorption rate in arbitrary properties. This type of equation enables us to find out whether a particular adsorption with predetermined operational conditions is fast enough to be industrially applicable.
