Evaluation of Wheat Energy Balance under Irrigated Farming (Case study: Shush) abstract

This study analyzed energy use and investigated influences of energy inputs and energy forms on output levels in wheat production in Shush of Iran. The data were collected from45 farmers, by questionnaire method. The results indicated that total energy inputs were 33874.4 MJ ha-1 while total energy outputs were 61593 MJ ha-1. Chemical fertilizers and irrigation were amongst the highest energy inputs for wheat production. Energy use efficiency, energyproductivity, and net energy were 1.8, 0.12 kg MJ-1, and 27718.6 MJ ha-1, respectively. About 71.1% of the total energy inputs used in wheat production was indirect while only about 28.9% was direct
