Determination of energy indices in Varamin broiler production units abstract

The agriculture sector, as the most important of the sectors producing the foodstuff of the country, is not only a consumer of energy but also the most importantsupplier of energy. In this research trend of energy consumption and production of broiler farms in Varamin city was investigated. For this purpose 40 questionnaireswere distributed among broiler farms of this city. Levels of energy consumption and production were 100.028 and24.34 GJ per thousand broilers, respectively. The largest share of energy consumed, 52.28, 26.92, 12.39 and 7.69% was related to feed, electricity, diesel fuel andnatural gas inputs. Indices of ratio, productivity, energy intensity and net energy gain were reported to 0.24, 0.023 kg per MJ, 43.44 MJ per kg and - 75686.94 MJ perthousand broilers, respectively
